The SVBC Week
Imagine listening to the purest, most beautiful voices on earth – those of the Vienna Boys' Choir (VBC). The VBC has been described as Vienna’s youngest ambassadors. The choir, with a history dating back some 500 years ago to the middle ages, is one of the world’s oldest surviving choirs. Famous composers such as Bruckner, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert have written for the choir. Many great musicians started their careers as members of the Boys’ Choir, amongst them the great conductors Hans Richter, Clemens Krauss and Lovro von Matacic. Many regard the Vienna Boys' Choir as Austria’s National Treasure. The Vienna Boys' Choir will make its second stop in its SVBC tour in Singapore, from 11th – 14th January 2019. The Choir, led by artistic director Professor Gerald Wirth, will present a repertoire of classic and modern pieces, with the aim of bringing together the choral community, expanding the reach of choral music, and inspiring and engaging with musicians and music lovers from all over the region.

Socialise
Of course, the week cannot be all work and no play. Events will allow participants to meet and befriend the boys in the choir. The opening ceremony of Buds by Shangri-la, which the Vienna Boys’ Choir will attend, will allow press and invited guests to get to know them better. As Singaporean Muqian and Singapore-based Mateo will be present, this will be an opportunity for guests to speak to the two boys who represent our country on an international stage.
This event is for media, invited guests and sponsors only. If you are from the media, please contact us for the invitation.
